フィリピン人

フィリピン人（フィリピンじん、英：Filipinos（フィリピノ）, タガログ語：Lahing Pilipinas）とは、フィリピン共和国の国民及びフィリピン人を祖先に持つ者。フィリピン人 Filipino という語はスペイン王フェリペ2世の名に起源を持ち、探検家ルイ・ロペス・デ・ビリャロボスがフィリピン諸島を「フェリペの島々」Islas Filipinas と名づけたことに由来する。2009年時点で約9,200万人のフィリピン人がフィリピンに住んでおり、その他に約1,100万人が国外で生活していると推計されている。

概要

大航海時代以前までは、バランガイと呼ばれる地域ごとのコミュニティに分かれて暮らしていた。またスペインの植民地時代末期に至るまで、タガログ、イロカノ、ビサヤなどの地域・言語グループに属して生活していた。また、「フィリピーノ」という呼称も、フィリピン諸島生まれのスペイン人を指す言葉とされ、フィリピン諸島土着の住民は彼らに「インディオ」と呼称された。

現在のような「フィリピン人」としての民族意識が芽生えたのは、19世紀にマニラ・ガレオンの貿易が終焉し、スペイン人がフィリピンを本格的に支配するようになってからである。

言語

オーストロネシア語族のフィリピン諸語を話す。

遺伝子

フィリピン人は、オーストロネシア人を特徴づけるハプログループO1a (Y染色体)が29％、東アジアや東南アジアで広くみられるハプログループO2 (Y染色体)が39%見られる。これらは出アフリカ後に北ルート（イラン→アルタイ山脈→東アジア）をとったモンゴロイド系遺伝子である。一方でフィリピン人には、出アフリカ後に南ルート（イラン→インド→東南アジア）をとったオーストラロイド系遺伝子もみられ、特にネグリトのアエタではY染色体ハプログループK2b1-P378が60％の高頻度でみられる。
